<back>Step Into Life Fitness. An outdoor exercise program run by a qualified personal trainer can actually make getting fitter and losing weight a lot of fun. The Step Into Life group training program is designed that way. Its outdoor fitness program offers an attractive alternative to a sterile gymnasium environment that some find boring or intimidating. Step Into Life offers a simple but effective strategy that helps participants reach their goals. Here’s how it works. Participants sign up for a three-month exercise program tailored to individual needs. The desired results should follow for committed members. A minimum of two sessions each week costs a total of $30. For three sessions a week, the total cost is $42. Members choose training sessions at a time that suits them – 6am, mid-morning and 6.30 pm. Step into Life offers exercise programs across Australia, but the Heidelberg franchise is owned and operated by Natalie Vulich, who holds her classes in the spacious and picturesque Heidelberg Park, located off Beverley Road. Sessions include cardiovascular training, toning, fitball, power flex, rubberised resistance, boot camp and kickboxing. (For more detailed information on each exercise category, visit the stepintolife website). Before starting a program, Natalie assesses each new member’s exercise history and accordingly designs a suitable program that reflects his or her immediate fitness. “We must ascertain the fitness levels and limitations of each new member,” Natalie says. Novices are introduced to activities that will slowly improve their fitness levels, and their progress is carefully monitored. Types of activities and the time allocated to doing them vary depending on a person’s fitness at any given stage. “We have to make sure that people don’t over-train beyond their fitness level because it can lead to any number of physical and metal complications,” Natalie says. Signing onto the three-month program requires a personal commitment that will be equally matched by Natalie’s team. Expect a phone call or text message if you miss a session without informing Natalie first. You may have already paid for the missed session, but the Step Into Life program is about achieving results. By their very nature, group sessions provide built-in encouragement as members motivate each other to attend the sessions and do well. Natalie says many people want to exercise as a means of improving their well being, but find it difficult to motivate themselves. If you fit this category, then group sessions will help. You will quickly discover that others in the group had also lacked motivation until they decided to take a determined approach to getting fit. “There’s no great secret to getting fit or losing weight,” Natalie says. “It requires consistent and disciplined exercise and watching your diet. Guys generally join our program to get fitter, while women tend to say their objective is to lose weight. Exercise also improves one’s mental health.” Another benefit of group sessions is some members become friends and they encourage and motivate each other while socialising outside set classes. Some members have been attending Natalie’s classes for years because her ever-changing program meets their exercise needs. Others like to conform to the morning discipline of doing regular exercise. Natalie practises what she preaches. An objective of this former bookkeeper was to make a living in the fitness industry, so she obtained the appropriate qualifications. Natalie has finished two marathons (42km) and still runs three times a week. She is also an avid bike rider in between classes. “I’m lucky because I’m doing something that I really enjoy,” she says. “And it’s a real thrill to help people achieve their goals through regular exercise that substantially improves their health. As a member progresses through the program, the results are readily noticeable. Those who achieve their objectives feel much better - physically and mentally - for it.” For further information contact Natalie Vulich at Step into Life ® Heidelberg This story was researched and written by finance journalist and public relations consultant ANTHONY BLACK, of Black Media.
