Yet there are too many struggling start-ups doing business without a logo – they could do with a business reality check. A school did a good deal when it bought 50 USB branded flash drives (2 gigabyte) for $15 each. “I think we saved the school about $400 when compared with High St retailer prices,” Anne says. “What’s good for the school is good for us because I’m a big believer in repeat business and establishing good long-term professional relationships.” Talking of USB flash drives, PinSource sells them in all shapes and sizes – there’s a USB in the shape of a Heineken beer stubby, another resembling a Big Mac hamburger and another imitating a Formula One car. The PinSource website is definitely worth a look in terms of product range and styles. Anne doesn’t need to sell the benefits of company logos on products, only to say effective promotion and marketing can give a firm a competitive edge over another. “It’s all about brand awareness,” Anne says. As it turns out, Anne says PinSource customers across the world have included McDonald’s, Disney, Universal Studios, Warner Theme Parks, Toyota, BMW and cancer councils. What Anne and PinSource are keen to promote are quality products and reliable customer service. And they stand by quality and service because their reputations are at stake - as is the case with any business selling products and services. Besides company logos, PinSource offers a multitude of products, including lapel pins, ID tags, badges, cufflinks, wristbands, sweatbands, lanyards and embroidered patches. There’s also green and PVC products. One of Anne’s favourite products is the newly released wrist water bottle, known as “Swiggies”. “It’s a unique and ideal product for people engaged in outdoor activities,” Anne says. Customers can design their own products or PinSource will do it for them. As an example, a lapel pin can be made from soft PVC, budget enamel, hard enamel or plastic. PinSource is more than a manufacturer; it’s also a sourcing company with a huge network of partner factories working together to satisfy any customer’s requirements from the most obscure items through to apparel. “The company has 22 years experience sourcing products from China, Taiwan and across the globe,” Anne says. “If it isn’t in our current range, we will try to source it for you, always straight from the manufacturer.” PinSource has been manufacturing since 1986 and was established in Australia five years ago. The company is offering five sub-franchises across Victoria. Successful applicants will get a free trip to Hong Kong and China to see the factories at work on top of company support in establishing their new businesses. Anne, who bought the Victorian franchise two years ago, says PinSource offers a good money-making opportunity and a flexible working environment for committed and dedicated business people.
