It’s not where you start, but where you finish that’s all important to businessman Jason Cintolo, of Just SplashBacks. Cintolo’s company provides kitchen, bathroom and bedroom installations with splashback shower screens, wardrobes and mirrors. Cintolo says clean lines, sparkling glass and innovation are integral to home design in the splashback age. “We specialise in creating the splashback look, whether someone is renovating or creating a dream home,” Cintolo says. A super finish impresses, but splashbacks offer a practical point of view. “I put glass inside showers and laundries instead of tiles and that means it’s easy to clean and there’s no grout lines,” Cintolo explains. “Customers can choose any Dulux colour to enhance the finish. Like the name Just Splashbacks suggests, I’m always finishing off jobs so my work is invariably what my clients see every day. If a bathroom is completed, I’ll put the shower screen in. After the kitchen is done, I’ll install a glass splashback. So, my finish has to be good because my clients are living with it and showing their friends. Because I’m at the end process, a quality job generates referrals and that’s what sustains a good business.” In terms of price, Cintolo says a fully framed standard shower screen is around $550, a semi-frameless one is $850 and a fully frameless shower screen is about $1850. “Our glass is stronger and more durable than tiles and you really would need a hammer to break it,” he says. Positive word-of-mouth advertising is invaluable, according to top business leaders frequently looking for feedback from their customers. Cintolo also has his testimonials from clients. What Silvana Pallis, of Donvale, says about her experience with tradesmen may also reverberate with readers. She says prior to hiring Cintolo, she experienced “sheer frustration” at the lack of professionalism demonstrated by several tradesmen during a kitchen renovation. Cintolo is a hands-on operator and will quote a job over the phone, or visit a potential client’s home. “A major reason why I’m price competitive is that I’m able to keep my overheads to a minimum,” he says. “From the time I measure, it usually takes about two weeks for a job to be completed. I have to order the glass for a company to make before it’s painted. A splashback takes about an hour to fit.” Cintolo, who employs two full-time workers, says he is a “perfectionist”. “If it’s not perfect, then I won’t install the splashback,” he says. “That’s what I have drilled into my employees.
